For those who enjoy reading the articles I write, the movies and tv shows I do reviews for along with other stuff but want to know more about me, the Darklight Critic, why I dedicated my time to become a blogger. This is my own interview I have conducted and hopes that those who enjoy my work to get know a bit about me and even would inspire many individuals to check out these movies and tv shows or other stuff that I like. And for those who find me odd on social media at times will have a clear understanding in some of these questions I have answered, so please enjoy my self-interview especially if you are a fan of my work.
Godzilla is one of my favorite characters in cinema of all time. He’s how I describe Darklight Reviews as being versatile with it contents. Because Godzilla is a versatile character.

Question #1 So what make you want to become a blogger and online critic?
Darklight Critic: Well it’s mostly my love for the entertainment medium which is films, television, videogames and everything else. I’m not looking to become a serious jouralist and write about real world issues as many people like myself would perfer escapism in the form of entertainment. What made me become an online critic is that I was inspired by watching YouTube Critics over the years. Particularly those who do movie reviews as their provide a sense of fun while giving insight about these films and their own honest opinion. I won’t mention any names but I really do enjoy watching their video contents they make on their channels. While I don’t have the skills or means to become a YouTube Critic like them but writing is something I do excel at.
Question #2 Tell me about Darklight Reviews? What’s the purpose behind this blog of yours?
Darklight Critic: The purpose behind Darklight Reviews is writing and expressing my own thoughts about the entertainment medium. Naturally writing about things I’m passionate about such as films, television, videogames and everything else. Right now I’m in the early stages of development with my blog though have made a couple of posts which are mostly movie reviews. But overtime I’ll get everything completely setup, established and getting more contents posted as it’s only the beginning for Darklight Reviews.
Question #3 What’s your favorite genre in film and television?
Darklight Critic: Let me start with the basics which are action, horror, mystery and fantasy as the genres I’m drawn to the most. Other genres I enjoy are drama (especially historical drama), a bit of western, love supernatural and gothic horror. There also cosmic horror (or lovecraftian horror), psychological and body horror along with some science fiction. So yeah I’m kind of a horror movie junkie, and the same can be said for the various subgenres of action. 😛
Question #4 What are your favorite characters in cinema?
Darklight Critic: Honestly I’m gonna start with Godzilla who is my all time favorite character in cinema, not because of his iconic status in popular culture. I grew up watching Godzilla films and learning how much of a versatile character he’s become over the decades. In addition to Godzilla, there’s Selene (from the Underworld Series) and Alice (from the Resident Evil Series) as I love a couple of heroines in cinema. There’s also John Wick who is still somewhat new but definitely has made an impact on popular culture due to the succes of the film series. Other characters includes James Bond (Daniel Craig’s verison), there’s also Riddick, Hellboy, Blade (from the Marvel films) and John Constantine with Keanu Reeves, and that’s it!……
Question #5 What are your favorite animated and live action television series?
Darklight Critic: When it come to animated shows, I’m gonna start with Dragon Ball, Salior Moon and Rurouni Kenshin as I grew up watching them throughout the 2000s. When it come to live action shows, I’m gonna start with Penny Dreadful from Showtime, Orphan Black from BBC America, Spartacus from Starz, The Wheel Of Time from Amazon and The Gilded Age from HBO as they are amazing series. Other shows includes Supernatural from the CW, The Nevers from HBO, The Magicians from SyFy, Miss Scarlet And The Duke from PBS, and Last Samurai Standing from Netflix as they’re all fun to watch.
Question #6 What about your favorite characters in television?
Darklight Critic: When it come to animated shows, there’re very few characters that I really enjoy watching over the years. I’m gonna start with Goku from Dragon Ball, Inuyasha from the anime and Himura Kenshin from the 2000s anime, Rurouni Kenshin. When it come to live action shows, I’m gonna start with the Winchester brothers from Supernatural, Vanessa Ives from Penny Dreadful, James Cole from the 12 Monkeys series, and Dutch from the Killjoys series. There’s also Juila Wicker, Alice Quinn, Margo Hanson and Marina Andrieski who all are from The Magicians tv series. Other characters includes Hannibel Lecter from the tv series, Spartacus from the 2010 series and there’s Bertha Russell from The Gilded Age.
Question #7 Do appreciate cinema as art form? Or just for pure entertainment? Or is it both?
Darklight Critic: I would say both. I do enjoy watching ambitious films, paying attention to detail in every scene is always rewarding to the viewer. Though I do enjoy watching simple and fun popcorn movies especially when it come to the action genre. So I do appreciate cinema as art though not taking the subject too seriously and having a sense of fun watching films.
Question #8 Your favorite characters in cinema are heros? What about villains?
Darklight Critic: Let me start off with King Ghidorah who is the prime examine of a reoccurring villain from the Godzilla Series. In addition to villainous kaiju, there’re the Cenobites especially Pinhead (Doug Bradley) and the Priest (Jamie Clayton) from the Hellraiser Series. There’re also the villains from the John Wick Series especially Zero (played by Mark Dacasos) and Marquis Vincent Bisset de Gramont (played by Bill Skarsgard) as they are so memoriable. Other villains includes the Necromongers from the Riddick Series and the Deadites from the Evil Dead Series.
Question #9 What horror films do you find the most difficult to watch?
Darklight Critic: I’m gonna say the Tetsuo Trilogy are difficult to watch in my opinion especially the first film being the most challenging. I’m interested in checking out the work of Shinya Tsukamoto but to understand his style of filmmaking is that I must watch his 1989 cyberpunk / body horror masterpiece. And right now I don’t have the metallic balls to watch Tetsuo: The Iron Man as some reviewers describe the film as being an endurance test, an assault on the senses. Though I’m quite fascinated by it origin and it director who has defintely developed a cult following over the years.
Question #10 What are your favorite film directors of any genre? Anyone you admire?
Darklight Critic: Gonna say John Carpenter (The Thing) and Dario Argento (Suspiria) as they’re true masters of horror. There’s Guillermo Del Toro (Hellboy & Crimson Peak) and George Miller (Mad Max Series) as their work are very influential. There’s also Ryuhei Kitamura (Versus & The Midnight Meat Train) and Keishi Otomo (Rurouni Kenshin Films) as I do admire the work from Japanese directors. Other directors includes Chad Stahelski (John Wick Series) and Takashi Miike (13 Assassins & Blade Of The Immortal) as I do enjoy their work especially when it come to action films.
Question #11 What about your favorite actors and actresses? Anyone you admire?
Darklight Critic: Gonna go with the underdogs with this, those individuals who I enjoy watching perform on film and television. When it come to actors or the male performers, there’re very few who I can think of that deserve more attention. I’m gonna start with Liam Hemsworth (The Witcher: Season Four), Daniel Zovatto (The Pope’s Exorcist) and Aaron Stanford (12 Monkeys & X-Men) as I enjoy their work along with their performances. When it come to the actresses, I’m gonna start with Eva Green, Hannah John-Kamen, Tatiana Maslany, Asia Argento and Haylie Duff as I really love their work along with their performances.
Haylie Duff has been criminally overlooked in my honest opinion, she deserves a lot more love and attention for her work as an actress.
Question #12 Do you like to play videogames? Are you a hardcore gamer?
Darklight Critic: Absolutely! I maybe at middle age but definitely love playing videogames on my off time from work and embrace that inner child of me. And I love a good challenge especially from action games as they make me feel better about myself after beating the final boss. I’m also supportive of the gaming industry which unfortunately it’s found itself in an odd place with Sony’s decision to stop making physical discs for new games. Despite such terrible news, I still love playing videogames and hell, I’ll keep playing them when reaching old age.
Question #13 What genre of games you like to play?
Darklight Critic: Gonna start with Character Action, ARPG (Action Role Playing Game) and Soulslike as I enjoy playing those type of games. There’s also Survival Horror as I definitely love the mood and atmosphere from playing those type of games. Another genre I enjoy is Fighting Games which is something I grew up playing with as a kid and into my teen years. Beyond that, I’m not really interested in the other genres especially FPS (First Person Shooters) as I have a certain taste in games.
Question #14 What’s your favorite games or series of games you like to play?
Darklight Critic: Gonna start with Resident Evil, Devil May Cry and Onimusha as I’m a real big Capcom fan when it come to their games. I’m also a big FromSoftware fans especially with their Soulsborne Series like Demon’s Souls, the Dark Souls Trilogy, Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Elden Ring. Also love some Team Ninja with their games like Ninja Gaiden, Nioh and Wo Long as I enjoy getting a good challenge from them. Other games I enjoy playing includes God Of War, Darksiders, The Evil Within, Death Stranding, Lies Of P, The Sinking City, Vampyr, Ghost Of Tsushima and Final Fantasy as this list sum up how much of a hardcore gamer I am.
Question #15 Do you like watch wrestling? And what shows do you perfer?
Darklight Critic: I do enjoy watching wrestling, it’s the only type of sport I enjoy and grew up watching on television over the years. I know for the longest time that WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) is the most popular show but there’re other wrestling shows I do enjoy watching. And while I enjoy watching WWE over the years but I’m really enjoying AEW (All Elite Wrestling) as it provide a more alternative option in wrestling shows. I never grew up watching ECW much but AEW has that same extreme vibe as that show especially with it death matches. So yeah, I do enjoy watching AEW more but still enjoy what WWE offers with their shows and events going foward.
Question #16 Do you have any favorite wrestlers?
Darklight Critic: When it come to the male wrestlers, there’re a couple who I admire their athleticism inside the ring and enjoy their personality. Right now I’m gonna start with Kyle Fletcher, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay from AEW who I enjoy watching especially with their current storylines. There’s also Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and CM Punk from WWE who I enjoy watching the most on television. When it comes to the female wrestlers from AEW, I’m gonna start with Kris Statlander, Toni Storm, Mercedes Mone, Thekla, Skye Blue, Megan Bayne and Persephone who I enjoy watching. There’s also the female wrestlers from WWE like Stephanie Vaquer, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriquez, Jacy Jayne, Zaria and Lola Vice who I enjoy watching.
Question #17 What are your long-term and short-term goals for Darklight Reviews?
Darklight Critic: When it come to short-term goals, I want to finish building out Darklight Reviews and focus on building a fanbase with it on social media. As for long-term goals, obviously I want to put out enough contents on the blog by reviewing movies, tv shows and videogames. I also want to conduct interviews with certain famous individuals and have them be the hightlights on the blog. There’s also a few projects on the blog I want to pursue like writing a couple of screenplays and selling them off to movie studios. That being said, it gonna take a couple of years building out Darklight Reviews and getting it to where I want to feel comfortable with it.
Question #18 So what can everyone expect to see from the Darklight Critic this year and next year?
Darklight Critic: Obviously more reviews but mostly from films at this time while I continue building out the blog with more pages and other contents. There’re a few upcoming reviews on certain tv shows especially current ones with a new upcoming season this year and the next. I’m still working on writing videogame reviews though it might take much longer to figure out while doing other reviews and different contents. I’m only one individual managing this blog but do whatever I do can in putting out enough interesting contents throughout this year and the next.
Question #19 Do you have any random thoughts?
Darklight Critic: Only three, my first thought is on Sony’s decision to stop making physical discs for new games which really suck to hear. I’m hoping that some company out there, either big or small will stand up and give gamers myself what they want which is physical discs new games in 2028. My second thought is more a confession that I somewhat have a crush on Haylie Duff who’s seriously being overlooked. I know lots of people loves Hilary Duff but I’m one of those individuals that is more supportive of her sister. And my third thought is that I’m not a fan of spring and summer as things are damn too hot around this time. I wish that we get two autumn and winter seasons every year as I’m a person who really enjoy cold weather.
